I was browsing a facebook group I oversee today, to find that a new member had been posting along the lines of ‘Anti-Americanism is not racism, and it is valid’. This user then proceeded to list some reasons they felt were justification for the validity of such an -ism.
After a deep, calming breath, the response began… after a couple of hours my geekery for the day had been discharged, and all was normal.
The response is posted here, do let me know what you think.

If bigotry based on ethnicity cannot be classed as racism then what can?
Perhaps you could take a look at the following list and say which groups descrimination against you *would* class as racism, and which you would not:
French
Dutch
Russians
Muslims
Arabs
Africans
Australians
Welsh
English
Scottish
Chinese
Japanese
Vietnamese
Thai
While you’re at it, could you explain why you reached each conclusion?

Hi, Just stumbled upon your blog…
How can someone anti-american be a racist just for the sake of being anti-american? America is built by people of many “races”. It’s just about not approving americans way of living, or criticising the way things work in america. It’s like every american that didn’t approve of Saddam was a racist!? It’s about way of living and idiology. Has nothing to do with race.
Although. People that are anti-american tend to not look at the better sides of america.
I think there really are serious problems in america that needs fixing. Not just healthcare issues and other social issues, but a big attitude problem. That is the biggest issue of them all. It’s like being patriotic is the same thing as to say there is nothing wrong with america. Face it.
America is a great country and can not be generalised.
Thank you.
